Hempton Marsh
Hempton is a 38 acre site of ancient wet meadow and mature woodland. Situated to the west of Fakenham, Hempton Marsh is bordered on the south side by the river Wensum. The Marsh Hide looks out over the grazing marsh and a dragonfly pond immediately in front of it. A second hide looks over a feeding station in the alder woodland, and beyond this a platform looks out across the river meander in the south west corner of the marsh. The site is managed by The NOA.
Species: Winter: Siskin, Redpoll and Brambling. Spring/Summer: Cuckoo, Marsh Tit, Lapwing. Redshank, Woodcock, Willow Tit, Barn Owl have been recorded here.
Access: Directions: The reserve lies on the north bank of the River Wensum to the west of Fakenham. The A1065 runs alongside the reserve. Parking is available just off the main road adjacent to the reserve. Grid ref TF91282972
