Dersingham Bog
An acidic valley mire with birch scrub bordered by Gorse and mixed woodland. The ground is waterlogged for most of the year. Part of the Sandringham Estate under the management of Natural England. There are many well-marked routes to follow. This is a sensitive SSSI site so please keep to the track and paths.
All year: Stonechat, chance of Crossbill.
Summer: Woodlark, Nightjar – walk the boardwalk and listen for the characteristic churring.
Winter: Teal, Shelduck, occasional Merlin, Curlew.
Access: Open access at all times. From the A149 and 2 miles south of Dersingham turn west onto one of the two minor roads to Wolferton which cross to form a ‘triangle’. Take the northernmost (right) road to park in the Scissors car park (TF667281) or continue further west to a second car park at TF663286.
