Castle Acre
A range of habitats along the River Nar: swift flowing river with adjacent water meadows, scrub, mature trees and ancient woodland. Interesting flora.
Species: Wildfowl, waders, Common Buzzard, Kestrel, Snipe with Summer and Winter visitors: Cuckoo, Warblers.
Access: The village is north of Swaffham off the A1065. Many access points including riparian walks from below the Castle, off Cuckstool Lane TF820150; from the road bridge below the village at corner of Bailey St with Blind Lane TF818149; from the track (Common Rd) to the east of the village TF813151; from the South Acre Rd ford below the church TF816146.
NB It is advised to park in the village and walk to any of the river access points.
